HC Deb 17 February 1969 vol 778 c30W
Mr. David Mitchell

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the weekly sum receivable by a man on unofficial strike by way of unemployment benefit and by way of other social security benefits, and the weekly sum receivable by a man on official strike and in receipt of strike pay, by way of unemployment benefit and by way of other social security benefits.

Mr. Pentland

A man who is on strike, whether official or unofficial, is not entitled to unemployment benefit and supplementary benefit is payable for the requirements of his dependants only. The amount of supplementary benefit depends upon resources, but the maximum is £3 14s. for the wife plus rent and additions for the children, ranging according to age from £1 7s. to £2 1s. each.
