Captain Kerby

asked the Secretary of State for Defence what were the strengths of the Volunteer and Regular Army Reserves on 1st December 1968; and what will be the strength of the long-term Reserve and the Regular Army Reserve, respectively, in 1970, 1973 and 1975.

Mr. Reynolds

The strength of the T & AVR, excluding T & AVR III which is being disbanded, was 40,717 on 1st December, 1968. The strength of the Regular Army Reserve was 45,337 on the same date. On the most recent forecasts, the strengths for the long-term and Regular Army Reserves are as follows:
