Mr. Marples

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will show in money value and as a percentage of the total the sources of finance for research and development in respect of the Government, universities, public corporations, private industry and other organisations, for 1964–65 and each subsequent year together with his estimates for 1968–69.

Information for 1964–65 and 1966–67 has been published in Table 4 of the first two volumes of "Statistics of Science and Technology"; information was not collected from industry for 1965–66. My department is in the process of analysing corresponding figures for 1967–68 and revising figures for 1966–67. Corresponding information for 1968–69 is not yet available.
