HC Deb 12 February 1969 vol 777 cc340-1W
Mr. Bitten

asked the Secretary of Slate for the Home Department if he is now in a position to indicate the ways in which barmaids in the Carlisle State Management Scheme can improve their productivity; and if he will enumerate the various factors which enable such increases in productivity to be measured in percentage terms.

Mr. Merlyn Rees

My right hon. Friend has decided that the brewing, storage and distribution processes within the Carlisle State Management Scheme offer the most immediate and worthwhile scope for productivity improvements, and, with the agreement of the Union concerned, he is arranging for an early review of that part of the Scheme. At a later stage, he will consider extending this to other parts of the Scheme.
