§ Mr. Marplesasked the Minister of Public Building and Works if he will make a statement on the progress of the review his Department is undertaking of its directly employed maintenance workforce; and whether he plans to publish its findings for the benefit of local authorities.
§ Mr. MellishThe main investigations involved in this review are now nearing completion and will be discussed at a series of joint regional meetings with the trade unions over the next few weeks. I hope to have discussions centrally with the trade unions myself early next month. I will consider with my right hon. Friends in due course whether any of the material could be of value to local authorities or others employing direct labour forces.
