§ Mr. Roy Hughesasked the Minister of Transport what progress has been made, following the report of the consultants acting for the National Ports Council, on the suitability of the flat lands east and west of Newport, Monmouthshire, as a site for a new super-port.
§ Mr. MarshThe coastal flats near Newport are only one of a number of sites physically suitable for the development of maritime industrial development areas. Consideration is still being given170W to other aspects of these studies. It is too soon to say whether or when a decision will be taken to go ahead with development at one or more of the sites.
