Mr. Grant

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what was the yield to the Revenue in 1967 and 1968 from Stamp Duty on leases where the rent was under £100 and £200 per annum, respectively; and what was the total yield from all leases in those years.

The information requested in the first part of the question is not available. The total yield in 1967 was £3.3 million and in 1968 £2.9 million. These figures do not include duty paid on transfers of leases.

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what was the yield to the Revenue in 1967 and 1968 from Stamp Duty on conveyances and transfers of freehold property where the consideration was under £10,000; and what was the total yield from all conveyances and transfers in those years.

Separate figures for freehold property are not available. The yield from all conveyances of land and buildings where the consideration was under £10,000 is estimated at £8 million in 1967 and £6 million in 1968. The yield from all conveyances and transfers (including transfers of stocks and shares), in 1967 was £57 million and in 1968 £79 million.
