Mr. Dewar

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many polling stations there were in Scotland at the General Election of March, 1966; how many people were employed to staff these; and at what cost to public funds.

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many persons were employed to count the votes cast in Scotland at the General Election of March, 1966; and at what cost to public funds.

3,276 at a cost of £8,566.

Mr. Dewar

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many postal and proxy votes were cast in Scottish constituencies at the General Election of March, 1966.

Mr. Ross

45,016 postal votes were cast. Information about the number of proxy votes is not readily available and could not be obtained without a disproportionate amount of work.
