HC Deb 03 February 1969 vol 777 cc14-5W
Mr. Bessell

asked the Minister of Transport why adequate fog warning signs are not provided on all major roads; and if he will seek to provide them.

Mr. Marsh

Highway authorities can provide triangular warning signs at sites especially liable to fog but generally it is up to drivers to notice fog and adjust their driving accordingly.

Present motorway warning signals will be progressively replaced by new signals able to indicate speeds related to a variety of hazards. When we have experience of them on the motorway network we may need to consider their application to selected other roads.
