What powers the Charity Commissioners have to investigate the affairs of organisations which—
- (a) desire to be registered as charities;
- (b) are already registered.
§ THE MINISTER OF STATE, DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND SOCIAL SECURITY (BARONESS SEROTA)The Charity Commissioners have power, under Section 6 of the Charities Act 1960, to institute inquiries with regard to charities or a particular charity (save those specifically exempted by the Act) either generally or for particular purposes. The power exists in relation to any organisation which is a charity within the meaning of the Act, whether or not it is registered, or seeking registration, as a charity.
