§ Miss BaconIn January 1969, the latest date for which national figures are available, 76 of the primary classes in Darlington, or 33.6 per cent., had over 40 pupils, compared with the national average of 9.5 per cent. The number has since been reduced and is now 37, or 15.6 per cent.
