§ 105. Sir Richard Glynasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food when last a quarantine kennel was reported as being unsuitable or as being conducted contrary to his regulations; and what steps were taken to correct the matter.
§ Mr. John Mackie2nd December, 1969, when a routine inspection by a veterinary officer of my Department disclosed that the fabric in one of the compartments of the kennels concerned required repair. Those responsible for the kennels have been admonished; the compartment has been taken out of use; urgent repairs are being effected, and a further inspection will be arranged when these have been completed.
§ 106. Sir Richard Glynasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food how many quarantine kennels there are in England and Wales; how often is each inspected; and how many inspectors are employed for this purpose.
§ Mr. John MackieThere are 40 quarantine premises in England and Wales approved under the Importation of Cats and Dogs Order 1928. The hon. Member will already be aware of the frequency of inspections from the reply I gave to the hon. Member for Woking (Mr. Onslow) on 6th November. These inspections form part of the wide range of duties falling to the 400 professional officers in the Department's Veterinary Field Service—individual officers being assigned to particular inspections as necessary.—[Vol. 790, cols. 170–1.]
