84. Dr. David Kerr

asked the Minister of Transport whether he has fixed a date for a public inquiry into the proposals for the northern terminals of the M23 motorway; and if he will make a statement.

In view of the large number of objections, some by local authorities, that have been made to the proposals as published and the representations I have received that they cannot satisfactorily be considered in isolation from the proposals for Ringway 2 in the Greater London Development Plan, I have decided to review the M23 terminal proposals before proceeding further.

I do not propose to arrange for a public inquiry to be held meanwhile.
