HC Deb 08 December 1969 vol 793 c29W
Mr. Blaker

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he will make a statement about the level of exports to and imports from the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.

Mrs. Gwyneth Dunwoody

I am disappointed that our exports to the U.S.S.R. have not continued to grow this year, following the very sharp rise last year, but fluctuations are to be expected when the figures reflect the completion of very large contracts. The rise in imports from the U.S.S.R. is accounted for chiefly by commodities such as furs and skins, diamonds and silver for which London is anentrepôt.
