HC Deb 04 December 1969 vol 792 c357W
89. Sir T. Beamish

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government if, in view of delay in the modernisation of Brighton's sewage disposal system, he will now give his approval, as a matter of urgency, to the scheme proposed by the Brighton Intercepting and Outfall Sewers Board for improvements to the Portobello Outfall; when he expects the work to begin; how it will be financed; and how long it will take to complete.

Mr. Denis Howell

The Board intends to borrow to pay for the scheme and arrangements are being made for a public local inquiry into its application for loan consent. The proposed programme for construction is a matter for the Board and it will no doubt explain it at the inquiry.
