§ 49. Mr. Scottasked the Secretary of State for Employment and Productivity what percentage increase was involved in the settlement of the exhibition stand fitters' wage claim; and on what grounds it was approved by her Department.
§ Mr. Harold WalkerIn answer to the first part of the Question I would refer the hon. Member to the reply given to the hon. Member for South Angus (Mr. Bruce-Gardyne) on 27th November. As both parties welcomed the assistance of the Manpower and Productivity Service of the Department of Employment and Productivity, agreed to set up a working party to examine inefficient working practices with a view to their elimination and undertook to use their best endeavours to reduce unnecessary overtime, it was decided not to oppose implementation of the settlement.—[Vol. 792, c. 607.]
