asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will make representations to the Government of Malta regarding removal of liability to double death duties on assets held in Great Britain by United Kingdom residents of Malta.

Mr. Taverne

I do not think it would be appropriate for Her Majesty's Government to make representations in the sense suggested.
