§ The Attorney-GeneralAs I told my hon. Friend on 7th March, the proposal to abolish imprisonment for civil debt is linked with other proposals of the Payne Committee on the Enforcement of Judgment Debts. They are being considered by my noble Friend the Lord Chancellor and I am not yet ready to make a statement.—[Vol. 779, c.181.]
