§ Mr. Roy Hughesasked the Secretary of State for Wales how many of the 400,000 leaseholders in Wales have successfully negotiated the freehold of their properties following the passing of the Leasehold Reform Act, 1967; whether he is satisfied with the working of the Act; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. George ThomasLeaseholders purchasing the freehold of their properties are not required to notify the Government, so information about the number of successful negotiations is not available. It is too early as yet to arrive at any firm conclusions concerning the working of the Act, but I am, with my right hon. Friend the Minister of Housing and Local Government, keeping this under review.
