HC Deb 03 April 1969 vol 781 c177W
Mr. Chichester-Clark

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what estimate he has formed of the quantity of Cyprus potatoes which will be imported in the spring of 1969; and what effect this will have on the home market.

Mr. John Mackie

Imports of new potatoes from Cyprus this year are expected to be about 100,000 tons compared with 136,000 tons last year. Many factors affect the market for homegrown early potatoes in any season, and I am unable to forecast the effect of any particular factor on the market for the 1969 crop.
