Mr. Howie

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science how many educational projects submitted by Luton County Borough Council for 1969–70 have been approved and of what value; and how many for the same period have been refused.

Three primary and three secondary school projects and one Youth Service project having a total value of £856,000 have been authorised to start in 1969–70. The secondary projects include the replacement of Barnfield High School which is being taken into use for further education purposes. One primary, two secondary schools and five Youth Service projects were refused.
