§ Mr. Dobsonasked the Postmaster-General when the results of the market survey into data transmission, referred to in the White Paper Post Office Prospects 1969–70, will be available; and whether he will publish the results.
§ Mr. StonehouseThe final report is expected from the consultants in the early summer. It is not normal practice to publish such reports, which are based on information obtained in confidence from respondents.
The general deductions that can be drawn from this survey will be made available, however, to the Post Office EDC Advisory Group on Data Transmission, announced yesterday. I welcome the Post Office's EDC's initiative in this and look forward to the advice of the distinguished group brought together to study this complex and exciting area of development. The Post Office will, of course, give fullest support, and I am sure that users and manufacturers will wish to do likewise.
