Which of the industries assisted under the Safeguarding of Industries Acts, 1921 and 1925, can be said to have established themselves in the long run, and which have failed to do so.
§ THE MINISTER OF STATE, BOARD OF TRADE (LORD BROWN)All, or virtually all, of these industries have established themselves in the United Kingdom. As a result of international tariff negotiations culminating in the Kennedy Round, the original high most-favourednation rates of duty have been reduced, and further reductions will take place between now and January 1, 1972.
1598WAImports of all the goods concerned may now be imported from EFTA countries and the Irish Republic free of duty, and nearly all the goods may also he imported from the Commonwealth Preference Area free of duty.
