§ Mr. MellishAbout 90,000 sq. ft. of office space was vacated. Occupation of the three former Metropolitan Police buildings has saved hiring space that would cost over £300,000 a year to rent. The buildings are occupied by the following staff:
Foreign and Commonwealth Office 350 Board of Trade 300 Ministry of Defence 250 These Foreign and Commonwealth Office and Ministry of Defence staff must work in the Whitehall area. The future location of the Board of Trade staff is being considered. The work of all these staff, as of all Government staff, is subject to the Government's policy to disperse work away from London and the south-east wherever possible.
