§ Mr. Joseph SlaterThe Union of Post Office Workers claimed an increase of an unspecified amount for postmen, postmen higher grade and telephonists. The recent settlement has increased the pay of postmen and postmen higher grade by 4 per cent. and of telephonists, a grade who had their last increase two years ago, by 5½ per cent., plus a further increase in 1969 based on achieved savings resulting from further changes in working practices.
