§ Mr. Will Owenasked the Secretary of State for Employment and Productivity how many men were signing on at the Ashington, Northumberland, Labour Exchange, at the nearest convenient date; and how many of these men were over 55 years of age.
§ Mr. FernyhoughAt 11th November, 1968, there were 1,323 men registered as unemployed at the Ashington Employment Exchange. This number is provisional. Detailed age analyses of the numbers registered as wholly unemployed are made in January and July each year. At 8th July, 1968, 936 men were registered as wholly unemployed and of these 537 were 55 years of age or over.
