§ Mr. TaverneIn July, 1966 the Treasury called the attention of Departments to the setting-up of the Post Office Giro system, and further information has since been made available as necessary. Departments have been advised to consider the Giro equally with other methods for making their payments and to make164W use of it where it is economically sound; and to offer facilities for accepting receipts through the Giro if any additional cost is not excessive or can be justified on considerations of increased efficiency.
