§ 34 and 35. Mr. Murtonasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government (1) what plans Her Majesty's Government have to pay an appropriate level of rate support grant in the year 1969–70 which will reflect properly the additional burdens being placed by central upon local government;
(2) what talks he is having with the County Councils Association with the object of reviewing the operation of the rate support grant; and whether he will make a statement.

Friends who are also concerned with local government services I shall be meeting representatives of the associations of local authorities including the County Councils Association and the Greater London Council on the 14th November. I hope to be able to lay the necessary Order before the House by the beginning of December, together with a Report in the usual form.
