§ 67. Mr. Bessell
asked the Minister of Public Building and Works how much money was spent by his Department on new carpets in the Palace of Westminster during the 1968 Summer Recess.
§ 70. Mr. Chapman
asked the Minister of Public Building and Works what requests he has received, and which ones he has agreed to, for extending those parts of the Palace of Westminster occupied by the House of Lords; and what costs are involved under each heading.
§ Mr. Mellish
Over the last few years, to meet requests for additional accommodation, proposals have been considered for building over the Peers' Chamber, for building over State Officers' Court, and for constructing additional accommodation in the roof space overlooking Black Rod garden. All these schemes 73W would be very expensive in relation to the extra space they would provide, and none has as yet been agreed.
