§ Sir C. Osborneasked the Minister of Power on what grounds he decided that the papers and proceedings at the recent summit fuel conference at the Civil Defence Staff College at Sunningdale are confidential.
§ Mr. MasonBecause much of the value of such meetings lies in free and frank discussion which would be impaired by departing from the practice, which is of long standing, that information and views exchanged at my meetings with the Chairmen are confidential. The Sunningdale Meeting took place on that basis and the participants are entitled to expect that the confidentiality of the papers and proceedings will be respected.
