§ Mr. Adam Hunterasked the Minister of Transport if he will seek power to issue directives to local authorities in Scotland to implement that part of the Transport Act dealing with travel concessionary fares for retired people.
Mr. Bob BrownNo. The provision in the Transport Act extends considerably the powers of local authorities to help elderly people in this way. It meets their expressed desire to have wider discretionary powers than those available under the Travel Concessions Acts.
