§ 60. Mr. Cleggasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government what was the object and result of his meeting with rent officers during the summer adjournment; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. MacCollMy right hon. Friend and I met a number of rent officers from different parts of the country in April. The object of the meeting was to enable us to hear how the Rent Act was working and what problems were being encountered, and to express to them our close interest in the service they were performing. They confirmed that in general the fair rent provisions were working well but they thought that many more tenants could benefit by applying to the rent officer.
