HC Deb 04 November 1968 vol 772 cc26-7W
Mr. Eadie

asked the Secretary of State for Employment and Productivity what is the number of training places in Government training centres in Scotland to date; and what number is projected for 1969.

Mr. Hattersley

The present number is 1,322. There will be about 1,450 by the end of 1969.

Mr. Eadie

asked the Secretary of State for Employment and Productivity what is the number of in-service places for training in industry in Scotland to date; and what is the number projected for in 1969.

Mr. Hattersley

Information about the total number of in-firm training places in industry in Scotland is not available. The Industrial Training Boards are, however, promoting training at all levels in Scottish firms as in other parts of Great Britain.

The training of workers for new jobs in development areas is also helped by the direct Government grants which are available under the Development Areas
