HC Deb 31 May 1968 vol 765 c285W
Mr. Prior

asked the Minister of Transport why he has not replied to the letter of the Borough of Lowestoft of 3rd May giving the firm assurances that he had asked for about the widening of the channel; and whether he will now send a reply.

Mr. Marsh

The hon. Member has been sent a copy of the reply which was despatched yesterday.

We have had to consider most carefully the adequacy of the assurances offered, and in particular as regards proposals to increase the depth of the channel. In this matter the letter from the borough of Lowestoft gave no information about the council's intention and no assurances, and we have now asked for this.
