§ 48. Mr. Dalyellasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what action he is taking to increase the efficiency of scientific officers in the Civil Service by providing them with improved secretarial assistance.
§ Mr. DiamondTreasury O & M is carrying out a preliminary survey, in consultation with three Government Departments, of ways of improving support to scientific and professional officers with secretarial and clerical staff and modern office equipment. Any proposals will have to be considered against current limitations on Civil Service staff numbers.
