§ 42. Sir Knox Cunninghamasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will state the rules applied by his officials in dealing with the entry into the United Kingdom of dependants of immigrants already resident in the country and, where an immigrant has two or more legal wives, upon what basis is the number of dependants assessed.
§ Mr. EnnalsDependants are admitted in accordance with the provisions of the Commonwealth Immigrants Acts, 1962 and 1968, and my right hon. Friend's published instructions to immigration officers (Cmnd. 3064 as amended by Cmnd. 3566). These apply to the wives 119W and children of valid polygamous marriages; but the number of such dependants admitted to the United Kingdom is small.
