§ Mr. Whitakerasked the Secretary of State for Defence how many acres his Department holds in Great Britain now, compared with in 1938; and what plans he has for relinquishment in view of the defence reductions.
§ Mr. ReynoldsServices land holdings were about 252,000 acres before the 1939–45 war, and about 608,000 acres on 31st March, 1968. Some 26,000 acres are in course of disposal, and more should become available for release when the effects of defence changes have been worked out in detail.
