§ Mr. Bruce-Gardyneasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what steps he intends to take to permit local authorities in Scotland whose rate fund contribution to the cost of housing exceeds the average figure of 35 per cent. to exceed the level of increases in average council house rents recommended in Command Paper 3604.
§ Mr. RossI will not normally accept increases in average standard rents exceeding 7s. 6d. a week in any one year, but before I give directions to any local authority proposing increases I will take all relevant factors into account, including the amount of the rate fund contribution to the costs of housing.
