HC Deb 06 March 1968 vol 760 c112W
Mr. Bessell

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what plans he has for easing the economy of Cornwall in view of the high unemployment in the county.

Mr. Man Williams

I have been asked to reply.

Almost the whole of Cornwall is in the South-West Development Area and therefore benefits from the very wide range of measures the Government have introduced to stimulate the economies of Development Areas. These measures should ensure that there will be steady economic improvement in the area. Part of the present unemployment in Cornwall is, however, due to seasonal factors outside the Government's control.
