Mr. Brooksasked the Minister of Transport whether she will describe the nature of the discussions which took place between her Department and the Mersey Docks and Harbour Board over the siting of the Board's proposed tankage at New Ferry, Wirral; and whether an alternative site has been proposed for such works.
§ Mr. SwinglerIn the course of preliminary discussions on this proposal the Department asked whether the site proposed for the tankage was better than any possible alternative. While this was still being considered it became clear that oil traffic would not grow as fast as had been predicted, and the project has now been postponed.
