§ 74. Mr. Youngerasked the Secretary of State for Defence what are the criteria upon which the decision is made as to which regiments are to be disbanded or amalgamated when cuts have to be made in the strength of the Army.
§ Mr. ReynoldsWhen such disbandments have to take place, all the relevant factors are taken into account. To set these out would only lead to fruitless argument as I am fully aware that protagonists for a particular regiment can always make a convincing case for that regiment remaining in the order of battle.
