§ Mr. J. P. W. MallalieuGovernment expenditure was £211,000 in 1963–64; £353,000 in 1964–65; £283,000 in 1965–66; £395,000 in 1966–67; and £546,000 in 1967–68. This year we are likely to spend £640,000. The future rate will depend on technical progress. In addition the aircraft industry has been spending about £100,000 a year and may spend more in future.
