§ 92. Mr. Bruce-Gardyneasked the President of the Board of Trade what estimate he has made of the value of the Board of Trade Advisory Committee grants and loans and of the number of additional jobs, respectively, which will be lost to Scotland in a full year as a result of the Government's decision to confine such grants and loans to service industry projects providing 50 additional jobs or more.
§ Mrs. Gwyneth DunwoodyOffers made in 1967–68 to service industry projects in Scotland providing less than 50 new jobs totalled £1.7 million. This was in respect of jobs estimated at just under 3,000. It does not follow that these jobs will be lost to Scotland as a result of the decision. Many of these projects are set up or expanded in order to serve the needs of local markets and may be expected to go ahead irrespective of eligibility for assistance. Special arrangements are being made for hotels.
§ Mr. Bruce-Gardyneasked the President of the Board of Trade what estimate he has made of the number of jobs created in Scotland with the aid of Board of Trade Advisory Committee grants and loans in service industry establishments where additional recruitment of labour amounted to less than 50 persons in each 74W individual case in each of the last three years for which information is available.
§ Mrs. Gwyneth DunwoodyJust under 3,000 jobs in 1967–68, which is the only year for which this information is available.
