§ Mr. Edward ShortNo inspectors have yet been engaged solely for the purpose246W of inspecting unrecognised independent schools but some of the 51 newly appointed H.M.I.s who are joining the service this year are well qualified for this work and will be used for it as well as for other duties. The first visits to schools under the programme will take place in the autumn term.
