§ 54. Mr. John Leeasked the Secretary of State for Employment and Productivity if she will take steps to ensure that the salaries of senior officials of nationalised industries are sufficient to prevent their being attracted away to private industry by the offer of higher salaries.
§ Mrs. CastleThe remuneration of senior officials in nationalised industries is a matter for each Board to determine, but I would ask my hon. Friend to refer to the Answer which I gave at the end 163W of Question Time to a Question about the treatment of the highest levels of remuneration under the policy for productivity, prices and incomes.
