§ Dr. David Owenasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what he estimates to be the saving to the National Insurance Fund for the years 1968–69 to 1969–70 of a rise in average earnings of an average 3½ per cent. per year during this period.
§ Mr. DiamondIt is estimated that at present rates of benefit a rise in average earnings of 3½ per cent. per annum over the years 1968–69 and 1969–70 would lead to increases in the net income of the National Insurance Fund of £6 million and £19 million respectively.
