Mr. Gresham Cookeasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department why the request by his Department for 167W British-made breathalysers was put out in the form of a Press notice on 2nd February, 1967 instead of being sent to appropriate British manufacturers in the form of a pharmaceutical specification.
Mr. TavernNotes for the guidance of manufacturers of roadside breath alcohol screening devices were sent in January, 1967 to firms who had been in touch with the Home Office. The Press Notice announced generally that the Department was ready to test devices submitted for approval.
