§ Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Minister of Transport whether she is aware of the dangers caused to motorists and others by stationary refuse skip tanks left by builders, demolition firms and others in unlighted and dimly lit roads and streets without warning lights: and whether she will take steps to ensure that these solid iron containers are properly lit during the hours of darkness.
§ Mr. Carmichael:The dangers caused by unlit skips are recognised. It is an offence under the law to leave any building materials, rubbish or other thing in a street at night without properly lighting the obstruction; enforcement of this provision is a matter for highway authorities and the police.
