§ Mr. Buchanan-Smithasked the Minister of Technology why the Water Pollution Research Laboratory are unable to undertake specific and extensive research into farm wastes and farm effluents.
§ Mr. Fowler:Specific research has already been undertaken by the Water Pollution Research Laboratory, and 168W apart from reports on sponsored projects, 10 papers have been published on the treatment and disposal of waste waters from farms and intensive rearing establishments. Two of these, "Waste Waters from Farms" and "Some Further Observations on Waste Waters from Farms", were issued as Notes on Water Pollution, No. 17, June, 1962, and No. 24, March, 1964, and distributed to the National Farmers' Union and by Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food to National Agricultural Advisory Service Officers. Possible needs for further research are currently being discussed by the Laboratory with the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and other organisations concerned
