§ Mr. E. Rowlandsasked the Secretary of State for Wales how many applications have been made to date to rent officers for fair rents, stating, separately, those made by landlord and tenants; and how many made by each side have resulted in rent increases, decreases, or maintenance of previous rents.
§ Mr. George ThomasSeparate figures of applications for determination of a fair rent received from landlords and from tenants respectively are not readily available. Since the inception of the fair rent machinery on 14th March, 1966, 2,789 applications for determination of a fair rent have been received by rent officers either from tenants or from landlords. Of these 709 were withdrawn or not entertained and 1,950 have been determined. In 632 cases the rent was reduced, in 84 it remained the same, in 1,097 it was increased and 137 were cases where a Certificate of Fair Rent had been issued.
§ Mr. E. Rowlandsasked the Secretary of State for Wales how many applications have been made to the rent assess 520W ment committees in Wales against the decision of rent officers; how many of these were made by the tenant and how many by the landlord; and what was the result of these applications.
§ Mr. George Thomas341 applications have been made to the Rent Assessment Committee in Wales, of which 66 were by tenants, 272 by landlords, and 3 were made jointly.
An analysis of the determinations of the Committees according to the origin of the objection is not readily available, but in the 328 cases so far determined the results have been as follows:
